Hidden Mothers Part 1
Who were the women beneath the sheets? Mourners before the lens, loss captured in a single negative bereft of their primary joy.

The maroon top is the most similar one I could find to the top I made from a pillowcase. I wear it with an electric blue patterned skirt.

The End of the Ride

The End of the Ride
Winterguard 2010 champion show
The end of the ride was staged to represent the pain and nostalgia that comes with letting go and moving on. A rollercoaster of emotions accompanies the process of saying goodbye, but after all the loops and twists, there is a light at the end of the tunnel that leads us to brighter days.

Natasha

Natasha
This is a depiction of the character I had to portray in Winterguard 2011-12. Her name is Natasha, and she's out to kill. The oppressors' red hat of wickedness taunts her and tries to bind her to an eternity of suffering on the red chair. To overcome the oppressors, Natasha must undergo the humility of comradery. She finally escapes from the realm after regaining her strength and showing the oppressors that lives are worth saving. As she walks into the distance, the oppressors are circled around the red chair, paying penance for their evil deeds and deciding for a change of heart.

Auntee Iriese

Auntee Iriese
Auntee Iriese saw spirits and read from the old tome books. The things she did at her dark house would get the sourest looks. And that one night that we crept through the window, she stole our breaths away. With the evensong the spirits sang the life left from my face.

Note: This piece was heavily inspired by the seance movement of the late 1920's. Please make sure to look closely.
